to me

Dear Tim,

We’ll use the 3rd Tuesday for a focus on the shift from academics to the blatant in our face ‘workforce readiness’ (geez, how many shows have we done on this?!) in the “Golden Age”.
Title suggestion: “Nation Served”Thanks, as always,
Lynne

Building the Golden Age Workforce: Connecting Talent to Opportunity Challenge

On January 13th, the Department launched the Connecting Talent to Opportunity Challenge. This Challenge is a national call to action designed to strengthen the connections between learners and earners by accelerating the development of integrated, state-wide Talent Marketplaces.

The Department invites state Governors, in collaboration with their Perkins, adult education, and workforce partners, to build or scale Talent Marketplaces that include a Credential Registry, Learning and Employment Records, and Skills-Based Job Description Generators to better match talent to opportunity. In doing so, States will expand access to high-quality career pathways, increase labor force participation, and support skills-based hiring.

Under the Challenge, the Department will provide up to 10 semi-finalists and finalists with tailored technical assistance as they refine and implement their development plans. In addition, they will be eligible to receive a portion of the $15 million prize pool.

7) In 2024, The Kaptivate/US Dept of Ed had another challenge for CTE (Career Tech Education aka workforce readiness):

8) The US Dept of Ed’s WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) 2026-27 mandated actions for states:

(*Note: using NC as an example, the state is 2nd in the nation for ‘preparing globally ready citizens’, especially for a workforce. The 2025 CTE report will reveal the numbers, but the NC Dept of Public Instruction’s announcement treats the news as the biggest and best ‘award’ of all time for our students.

This excerpt preceded the image below:
Most  think Common Core (or its rebrand, “College and Career Ready”) END at 12th grade.Hardly. The UN (United Nations), the ILO (International Labor Organization), and scores of other related groups meant ‘lifelong learning’ to be an endless track of some form of training. It’s where ‘cradle to grave’ came from, too.A key member of the ILO? The U.S. Dept.of Labor”
