1) The 119th Congress has had several Data Center (DC) bills in the works since the 2025’s opening session.

Here are the latest ones. The big question for our listeners, since it’s “Tell It to Me” Tuesday: What’s this got to do with education? The easy answer: skilled labor (aka: workforce prep)

2) The one bill that’s getting misrepresented the most is S 4214, which supposedly sets up a national moratorium on DCs. However, there are some glaring holes. MSM has spun it (along with several anti DC groups, as a saving grace, so to speak.
We’ll start here, and then briefly look at the other DC fed bills.

(*Note: in local or state anti DC protests, all types of political groups are showing up as part of the pushback. However, could it be that the R idol worship is so strong that regardless of what political party offers a stance with the people, it will be dismissed?)
**Why is this worth mentioning? Because, in the remaining bills we’ll look at, a good bit are not R sponsored!**

(This bill puts the US Dept of Homeland Security in charge of a strategy that will include the US Dept. of Defense in defense of DCs, as well as protecting communities & Other Purposes (OPs).
No co-sponsors & was introduced May 7, 2026

4) HR 6983:

(This bill is called the PRICE bill; Preventing Rate Inflation in Consumer Energy Act;
Supposedly, this bill will mandate DCs be self generating their own electricity at a 75% rate by 2035 and be at 100% by 2040. Energy sources will be ‘clean’: wind, solar, battery, green hydrogen, hydrapowered or geothermal)

5) HR 6529:

(This bill is known as the Protecting Families from AI DC Energy Costs Act; introduced in Dec. 2025, there are 16 co-sponsors. Requires the federal government to hold a technical conference on protecting residential customers from increased energy costs)

6) HR 8037:

(This bill could be a big help or it could be another weapon against us. Put this one on an alert option. It’s known as the Protect American AI Act. It’s in 2 committees right now after being introduced in March 2026. No co-sponsors. Supposedly this imposes limits, effects and litigation of environmental processes (part of the application process) for DCs and the associated infrastructure to support/build DCs.)

7) HR 5227:

(Known as the Unleashing Lost Cost Rural AI Act, this bill has 6 co-sponsors & was trotted out in Sept. 2025. Will conduct a study on AI DCs in rural areas. The dangers? Use of public land & public utilities. This bill will also impact growth in rural areas.)

The first of the ‘sister bills’ are HR 6179 & S 1475. The House’s version was introduced in Nov. 2025 and has 9 co-sponsors. The Senate version was introduced in April 2025 & has 1 co-sponsor. These bills appear to be very sneaky in agenda: establishes requirements on electricity consumption of DCs and includes cryptocurrency, mining (minerals) & more.)

8) HR 1737:

(This bill doesn’t have so much of a title as it does a run-on sentence! It has passed the US House and is in the Senate’s Commerce/Science/Transport Committees. It was referred to the Senate in 2025. It directs the Sec. of Commerce to submit a feasibility report on trans-Atlantic submarine fiber optic cable connections for the US & US Virgin Islands and extend on to Ghana/Nigeria. In other words:
Global data tracking under the sea! “Bonus areas”: Health care, farming innovations, communities, border patrol, weather, tribal activity, human traffic, finance/banking
Is this why the EXIM bank has just released a new effort for American dominance in global AI?

**Think back to the president’s FY 2027 budget that increases maritime skill based training and activity. Repeat this for the mining (above), etc. Tie to the AI Action Plan too**

9) Next set of ‘sisters’ are HR 5332 & S 3269 “Liquid Cooling for AI Act”:
(These bills {House introduced Sept. 2025 & Senate introduced April 2026} find the House’s version with 11 co-sponsors & the Senate’s with 3. They require the Comptroller General of the US to conduct technical assessments for liquid cooling systems for AI computing clusters & high performance computing facilities. Requires the federal government to develop ‘best practice’ guidelines for federal agencies & OPs. Uses a 2024 DC Energy Usage Report from Lawrence Berkley National Lab) Supposedly, America’s energy use was 4.4% in 2023 with an expected increase to 6.7-12.8 % by 2028 from DCs, cloud & digital technology)

10) HR 4506:

(This bill, known as the Securing Global Telecommunications Act targets China as the ‘bad guy’ who must be beaten {remember this theme is the backbone of the American AI Action Plan}. In fact this is the one Congressional bill that is directly tied to the AAAP! With 2 co-sponsors, it was introduced in July 2025. The purpose is to secure the telecommunications infrastructure. The Foreign Affairs Committee has this authority to develop a strategy. Of course, OPs are also included.

11) HR 8470:

(This bill is called the Surveillance Accountability Act, has 1 co-sponsor and is in the Judiciary Committee. All searches will be included as the Title 18 USCode is amended. Supposedly our security & privacy will be protected, as well as the 4th Amendment rights. The language in this bill may raise some red flags for you.

Things to question:
1) Why does it appear that Congress only classifies DCs as one type when there are at least 3 different types that can raise electricity, deplete water, cause pollution of all sorts, etc.?

2) What about the reality of the jobs that our students are being skilled for?

3)  Why does it appear my town or county/state or federal official isn’t listening to me?
The data center industry has been employing ex-journalists, campaign managers, public policy makers to ‘beef up’ the sales pitches that tickle the ears of those in charge. From the promises of false economic booms to tax breaks (aka: incentives), these folks are making tons of money to nudge your elected/appointed leaders into place.
