Real Education Comes From The Family, Not The Hand Of The State

“The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.” – JFK

Kennedy’s statement can also be translated over to education. God has given us His commands and those instruct the family on how to educate children. The generation that comes after us were given to us as parents and as such, we are to be their instructors, pointing out the wonderful works of God and teaching them to keep His commandments. Common Core Diva Lynne Taylor joins me in this episode to discuss this vitally important issue.

Scriptures, along with additional resources mentioned in this episode.

1Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

2For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

3For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

4He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

5Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

6Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

7Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

8Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

9She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

10Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

11I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

12When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

13Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

20My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. -Proverbs 4:1-13, 20-23

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. -Proverbs 22:6

Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city. -Ecclesiastes 7:19

Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good. -Ecclesiastes 9:18

3And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes; 4Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. 5And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king. -Daniel 1:3-5

I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter. -Daniel 2:23

1b) Froebel was responsible for the creation/idea of kindergartners and early childhood education. Oddly enough the Prusssian system hated his ideas and called it ‘socialism’.

3) I found a Christian private school in MO, named the The Daniel Academy. They claim to have created a school based off the Bible, the book of Daniel, Daniel’s life, and, putting God first.
